There are three People’s Choice Awards that are decided by public vote selecting from the shortlist below. Anyone over 18 years of age is eligible to vote. When voting, please do not vote more than once for any one nominee in each category. Multiple votes received from the same person or from the same listed email address will be discounted. Any votes cast by children under 18 years of age will be discounted. The winner of each category will be announced on the evening of the awards ceremony.

People's choice for Best Young Leader

Michal Šimecka, Slovakia – Renew Group. Nominated for work as Vice-President of the European Parliament.

Monica Semedo, Luxembourg – Renew Group. Nominated for work as Shadow Rapporteur on the adequate minimum wages in the European.

Kira Peter-Hansen, Denmark - Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance. Nominated for work as Vice-President of the European Parliament.

Daniel Freund, German - Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance. Nominated for work as Rapporteur for the report on strengthening transparency and integrity in the EU institutions.

People’s choice for COVID-19 Response

Manuel Pizarro, Portugal - The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). During the pandemic Mr Pizarro went back to working as a doctor.

Peter Liese, Germany - European People's Party (EPP). During the pandemic Mr Liese went back to working as a medical doctor in Germany.

Katalin Cseh, Hungary – Renew Group. During the pandemic Ms Cseh went to work part-time in the emergency department of a Budapest hospital while also fulfilling her duties as an MEP.

Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, France – Renew Group. During the pandemic Ms Zacharopoulou went back to working as a doctor at a French military hospital.

People’s choice for Outstanding Achievement in Public Service

David Sassoli, Italy – The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). First elected MEP in 2009 and served until 2022. From 2019-2022 he served as the President of the European Parliament.

Dacian Cioloș, Romania – Renew Group. Former Prime Minister of Romania and EU Commissioner and now MEP.

Iratxe Garcia Perez, Spain – The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). Elected MEP in 2004, group leader in the Parliament and member of the conference of presidents.

Heidi Hautala, Finland – Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance Vice chair of the European Parliament and was first elected MEP in 1995. She is serving her fifth term
